Alyssa has extensive experience on the production side of the industry, from backstage crew work to choreographing, directing, and writing. She has experience in not only being onstage, but also from the other side of the table in production. She is very interested in taking roles in production.

Experience

THEATRE EDUCATION AND YOUTH OUTREACH

Alyssa has worked in theatre education since 2011, starting as a summer camp counselor for the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre's Broadway Bound summer camp program. Since then she advanced to intern and then to co-director of the camp program, which has expanded from week long camp sessions to include winter sessions, cabarets, masterclasses, and children's theatre productions on the main stage. On top of teaching camp for the theatre, she also attends and teaches fine arts days in the community on their behalf.

She also teaches stage combat masterclasses and intensives for Creative Pursuits Academy, a local young artists training academy, and has taught Stage Combat as part of other local theatre summer camp programs. 


Alyssa is very familiar with Child Supervising -- she has Child Supervised productions of Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Carol, Ragtime, The Full Monty, and The Sound of Music.

DIRECTING/ CHOREOGRAPHING

This upcoming summer she will be directing SpongeBob the Musical, Youth Edition, at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre

Alyssa works as the choreographer for a local high school, and has so far done The Addams Family and Beauty and the Beast for them. On top of being a choreographer for the school, she is also a substitute teacher and has full clearances to work with children in Pennsylvania.

ARTS ADMINISTRATION
Alyssa has extensive experience in arts admin, having lent a hand to the Dutch Apple's artistic producer on many occasions.

She has done everything from filing, to responding to phone calls and emails, to filing child labor paperwork for national tours, to assisting with auditions, to transporting cast members. 

 

BACKSTAGE
Alyssa has worked backstage in several capacities:

 

Costuming -- She worked in the Muhlenberg College costume shop as her college job, she Wardrobe Crew and Wardrobe Captained many Muhlenberg College Theatre and Dance Productions, worked as the Wardrobe Assistant at the Strasburg Railroad making, repairing, designing and creating costumes for their productions), and worked as a stitcher as needed at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre. 

 

Stage Management/ Crew -- She worked as Deck Crew for the sit down of the Finding Neverland National Tour, Assistant Stage Managed The Will Rogers Follies, and Stage Managed The Savannah Sipping Society all at the Dutch Apple. She also still works as a spotlight operator for them as needed. 

 

Box Office/ Ticketing -- She has experience in the ticketing side of things as well, having worked in the Box Office of the Dutch Apple for two years. This gave her familiarity with the program Audience View. At this time, she also became a Door Manager, responsible for checking the Front of House, taking tickets, checking guests in, and ensuring the dining room is properly set for the evening. She still works in the Door Manager role. 

 

Playwriting/ Scripting -- Alyssa has also written several professionally produced scripts. She writes for the Strasburg Railroad Entertainment Department, developing stories to be told on their antique steam engine. She co-wrote their 2023/2024 Murder Mystery The Show Must Go On and their 2024/2024 stunt show Bonnie and Clyde. She is also primarily in charge of writing the scripts for the different sessions of the Broadway Bound summer camp musical revues.
